Intro

Our takeover team officially began running the Cartoons project on March 1st, 2023, marking the culmination of a meticulous transition process that began in October 2022 and concluded with the final smart contract transfer in late February 2023, spanning approximately six months. Today, Cartoons is steered by Dyrell and Corai, with invaluable support from Moeee, DonnP and most recently WebNinja.

Our shared journey started with a deep-seated passion for creativity and an unwavering belief in the community’s potential, the projects underlying concepts, and the blockchain technology behind it all. During the months of transition, we found ourselves in a period of contemplation as we vied for control of the project and charted a new course forward.

While our initial intention was to transition toward a more decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) model, the absence of a treasury transfer prompted us to pivot toward a comprehensive revitalization, spanning the realms of branding, artwork, and overarching business objectives. Thus, we proudly present The Cartoons TOONUP, a testament to our creative refresh of the entire project.

Rebrand

As a pivotal first step in our comprehensive TOONUP initiative, we proudly unveiled our rebrand on July 29th. This transformation was propelled by several compelling factors. Firstly, our project has evolved significantly from its origins as a simple art collection on the Ethereum Blockchain to a burgeoning brand with fresh leadership, vision, and purpose. This evolution necessitated a brand identity realignment to mirror our current mission and aspirations. Additionally, we embarked on a path of simplification, starting with a redesign of our iconic Cloudy logo, ensuring it embodies the very essence of Cartoons, making it more approachable and instantly recognizable. Lastly, this rebranding effort strategically paves the way for future products and initiatives, all sharing the same vibrant visuals, ensuring our brand remains dynamic, relevant, and enticing in the ever-evolving web3 landscape. Art Reveals

Following our rebrand, we dropped the first official sneaks of the all-new tooned’ up Cloudy. We kicked off with our beloved protagonist, and we’re thrilled to announce that this is just the beginning. In the coming weeks and months, we’ll be revealing sneak peeks of all four primary characters, including Lucky, Burnie, Luna, and more, as we build anticipation for our official release. Saturdays have become our official sneak peek days, so mark your calendars!

Our website has undergone a remarkable transformation, thanks to the exceptional efforts of WebNinja.eth, who collaborated closely with Dyrell. Ninja has displayed unwavering commitment and skill in designing and developing our website, perfectly capturing the essence of our new branding. The result is a simple and user-friendly platform that beautifully complements our reimagined identity. One standout feature on our revamped website is the Cloud Download function. This function allows holders to enter their Cartoons Token ID, seamlessly retrieving the associated image from OpenSea, allowing them to download a high-resolution JPEG file of their token. We’re committed to enhancing this utility even further in the near future with addon options like coffee mugs, GMs and more, adding new dimensions to your Cartoons.

While our new site represents a significant upgrade from the original Cartoons webpage, it’s important to note that this is just the beginning. Our website may evolve over the next year, reflecting our commitment to providing you with an even more enriching and dynamic experience within the Cartoons ecosystem. Together, you can craft a one-of-a-kind Cloudy character token for the TOONUP Collection. NOTES: Fixed Edition token ID’s will seamlessly match with the corresponding token ID’s in the upcoming TOONUP Collection (The first 100 tokens). FE holders will be delighted to receive their custom TOONUP tokens via a pre-mint airdrop (est Q1/Q2-2024), ensuring a seamless transition into the new collection. Unclaimed FE Customs will host placeholder art in the TOONUP tokens metadata and will be held in the Cartoons Vault. When the associated FE holder claims and finishes their custom TOON in collaboration with the Toon Team, the metadata on the equivalent TOONUP token will be updated to showcase their custom piece and it will be airdropped to the owner of the FE.

We envision this as a unique collaborative effort between our earliest supporters and our team.

NOTES: While we encourage creativity and open collaboration, there will be certain conditions to ensure a positive and compliant experience. Custom token creation needs to be within reason, adhering to ethical guidelines and respecting intellectual property rights. Designs should not include any content that infringes upon other IP, contains 18+ themes, or violates any applicable laws or regulations. We’re excited to work with you to create unique tokens that align with our project’s values and community standards. Collaborations will be facilitated on a first-come, first-served basis, and participants will be required to maintain ownership of the FIXED Edition NFT until the TOONUP Collection Mint, ensuring an exciting and interactive experience for all involved.

GENESIS EVOLUTION

Our takeover team has placed a huge importance in honoring the legacy of our Genesis Collection while paving the way for exciting new opportunities in the TOONUP era. This stage of our plan involves updating the metadata of the Genesis tokens, transforming their artwork into what we’ll refer to as “Genesis Coins” (Tentative). These coins will serve as more than just digital relics; they will create an onboarding and exit stage for both existing and future holders. Unlike traditional projects that might introduce generic staking mechanisms or on/off chain tokens, we’ve envisioned a dynamic approach.

With this conversion, all Genesis tokens will become “Coins” with rarity-based values, providing holders with redeemable utility that evolves over time. One prominent exchange option for these tokens will be a trade-in for TOONUP tokens when we launch the new collection. A marketplace will also be released that will continually update with a diverse range of offerings, including active NFTs, Allow List opportunities, gifts cards, physical products, digital and IRL experiences, collectibles, raffles, and much much more. Holders of Genesis Coins will have the privilege of trading their tokens for these unique perks, based on a first-come, first-served basis. The tokens will be exchanged with our Community wallet, accumulating over time and enabling us to reinvest them back into our community, benefiting those who choose to stay within the Cartoons ecosystem.

We understand that not everyone will decide to continue with our journey, and we respect that many of these original holders may not want to part with their tokens at todays floor prices. This strategy enables us to deliver a rational ROI to Cartoons original supporters while setting the stage for future enhancements and engagement. Importantly, it allows existing holders to have a reasonable exit strategy without resorting to flooring their tokens on the secondary market allowing us to do what we can to accommodate the original community, while still recognizing the constraints we inherited from the previous team.

We also understand that the Genesis Token artwork may hold sentimental value for many people. To ensure your connection to the original artwork remains intact, we’ll be taking a snapshot of all holders’ wallets prior to the metadata update. From this snapshot, we will be able to send a Soulbound Equivalent of your Genesis Cartoons to your wallet address. This preserves your artwork on the blockchain while alleviating the expectations associated with floor prices and maintaining the integrity of the original collection on our end.

This dual approach allows us to bridge the past and future of Cartoons, ensuring that both our loyal community members and cherished artwork continue to thrive within the evolving Cartoons ecosystem.

NOTES: Soulbound tokens (SBTs) are blockchain-based digital assets that cannot be transferred to others. They are permanently tied to a specific individual/wallet.

Our marketplace where Genesis Coin holders can exchange their tokens for alternate rewards. Offerings will range from NFTs, gift cards, physical and digital goods, experiences, collectibles, raffles, and more.

NOTES: Reward allocation will be at the discretion of the team and will be gradually distributed over time as they accumulate or become available. We’ll operate within predefined budgets that expand based on the success of Cartoons’ revenue sources, including the Fixed Edition & TOONUP Collection mints and the sales achieved. Holders should anticipate rewards to be available on a first-come, first-served basis, with our initial offerings primarily sourced from team donations, bootstrap funding, or contributions from partner projects. The transformation of our Genesis tokens and the development of Toonmart within our ecosystem serve as essential tools for facilitating this migration while fostering a positive and sustainable project evolution.
